Project
Life & Times
Design and produce a book for a ‘Life & Times’ style biography
My Life & Times is the title of the autobiography of Reginald Bray. It was ghost written by his son and was intended to celebrate and remember Reginald’s extraordinary life. I was very honoured to have been asked to work on such a personal project.
The project began by reading through the book text, and then scanning and digitally restoring a selection of old photographs. To support the content, I designed a set of pictograms, which are utilised throughout the book. They represent some of the book’s various themes, such as RAF & India and My Working Life. The book’s format includes a variety of throwout pages to best display some of the photographs, and a gatefold for a family tree.
The Deliverables
- Bespoke pictograms
- Book design and layout
- Historic photograph digital scanning and restoration
- Short run of digitally printed books
